学会表彰
都留賞は、北海道大学脳神経外科初代教授の故都留美都雄先生の御遺族および北海道大学脳神経外科同門会有志の御寄付によって設立された都留基金を基にして創設されました。1996年より脊椎・脊髄疾患に関する優秀論文1編を毎年選出し、日本脊髄外科学会の学術集会で授与していました。2011年に第15回で終了しましたが、脊椎脊髄外科を志す若手脳神経外科医のモチベーションを高める上でも、その終了を惜しむ声が多くありました。このため、退官後の都留先生が名誉院長を務められた北海道脳神経外科記念病院が後援する形で、2016年より第16回都留賞として復活しました。
第25回都留賞は、2024年1月から12月までに出版された脊椎脊髄疾患に関する原著論文を募集し、9編の論文の応募がありました。いずれも高いoriginalityを有する優秀な論文でした。選考委員による厳正な審査の結果、最も高い評価を受けた下記の2編を第25回都留賞受賞論文として選出しました。
愛媛大学脳神経外科の重川先生の論文は、日本脊髄外科学会が主導した多施設臨床研究で、WHO grade IIのspinal astrocytomaの治療成績を分析し今後の指針を示したものです。Grade IIのみの多数例の分析はこれまでなく、高い評価を受けました。
東京大学脳神経外科の山澤恵理香先生の論文は、日独の多施設研究で、spinal ependymomaの分子生物学的特徴を明らかにした研究です。Second authorですが、third authorまでが”contributed equally”となっています。Spinal ependymomaの分類に極めて重要な役割を果たすと考えられる研究です。
賞状と副賞の授与は、第40回日本脊髄外科学会（菅原 卓先生会長、秋田）で行いました。関係者の方々、選考委員の先生、ご応募いただいた先生に厚くお礼を申し上げます。
